Fast as Lightin’

We are getting WAY too much rain here!!

I’m going to need a boat to get to work here soon.

Luvy rushed home today to try to beat the rain and mow our yard (jungle).

He just mowed the other day, but because of all the rain it is growing like crazy!

I think Mother Nature had it out for him today, because it started to rain right when he got home.  :(  Geeze.

He did help me clean the house though.  That was a welcome surprise!!

To thank him, I made pizza with pesto.  Luv + Pesto = tummy ache.  Boo!!  No more pesto for me!

It stopped raining for a bit after dinner, so we were sneaky and planted a few plants that Luvy’s parents gave us.

We had to be quick– the rain was a comin’.  We are supposed to get bad storms tonight.  If it is like the last time, we will sleep right through them AND the tornado warning siren.  Oops.

Luvy dug the holes for the plants.

I scooped dirt and made them pretty…kinda.

Luvy was digging and he hit something hard.  I was afraid he had hit something important, but it ended up being a brick laying tool!

We have found so much stuff buried in our yard!!  Bricks, a saw blade, cinder blocks, and now a brick laying tool.  Messy builders!

GREAT NEWS!  I am officially finished with school for the semester!!  My camera is also making its way home as we speak.. sorry again for me blurry pictures!

Are any of you sick of the rain???  COME SUMMER COME!

Glorious Day

Happy Easter!!

Praise the Lord for His amazing sacrifice that has given us salvation!

Casting Crowns sing the old hymn beautifully in “Glorious Day”:

Living, He loved me
Dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He’s coming
Oh glorious day, oh glorious day

This Easter has been beautiful.  Sure, the weather is raining and yucky, but nothing is more beautiful than remembering the Lord’s sacrifice for His children.

Sorry I went MIA on you all this weekend.  We went to Tennessee to visit with our family.  More on that later this week!

I decided not to blog or to make the blog a priority, because I wanted to spend all the time I could focused on family.  It has been since Christmas since we had seen them!

Today, we had a great (and packed!) service.

Luvy was looking good!  Definitely the most handsome man there, in my humble opinion!

After church, I couldn’t help but get a picture with my two favorite little men!  (Soon to be three!!!)

Our adopted family had us over for Easter lunch.  I love them so much– they really are like family!

Barbara out did herself (like always!) and had a wonderful spread.  She always cooks things that I can eat.  Love her!

Luvy and I contributed hummus, veggies, fruit, and my favorite millet and butternut squash salad.

The salad was a hit!  Recipe to come!

We stuffed our faces!  This was just our first trip…  I’m embarrassed to say how much I have eaten today!

I love getting to know these girls, because they are “girly” girls…  I need them to teach me.

Shelby ended up painting my fingers and toes!

We had so much fun chatting and hanging out.

Barbara hooked me up with some pedicure flip-flops so I didn’t mess up my new toes.  :)

I was looking stylish for sure.

Sorry for the picture quality in some of these.  Jenni’s pictures turned out great, but my camera on my phone doesn’t do as well.

I didn’t any pictures of Jenni, because she was the photographer.  :(

I love spending time with them!  It makes Kentucky ‘home’.

Our camera decided to stay on vacation in Tennessee.  Oopsy.

I hope all of you had a lovely Easter Sunday!

Luvy leads worship at our church and did this Matt Maher song this morning.  I love the lyrics.  You can listen to it here.  I think it was the perfect Easter song.

“Christ Has Risen”

O death, where is your sting?
O hell, where is your victory?
O church, come stand in the light
Our God is not dead
He’s alive! He’s alive!

Bunny Love

I can see the finish line!!

After Sunday, I will be finished for the semester.  I am not taking a summer class, so I will get a nice long break!

I’m so very excited.

Mama Pea saved the night again at our house.  I’m starting to think that Luvy might not want my food again after eating so many of Mama Pea’s ‘recipeas’.  :)  It’s a good thing her cookbook is coming out soon.  I have already pre-ordered mine!

I threw her Spicy African Peanut Stew in the crockpot at lunch and let it cook away.

The only thing that I changed is that I added 3.5 cups of broth and an extra can of fire-roasted tomatoes.  Luvy and I LOVE fire-roasted tomatoes!

I garnished ours with peanuts.  It was so good I ate 3 bowls!

Tonight, the Easter bunny made an early appearance at our house.

Luvy’s basket contained a new shirt and tie for Easter Sunday, Snickers eggs, and peanut M&M’s.  He is set on junk food for a while.

The bunny brought me a food scale that I have desperately been wanting for months!

It is going to make it SO much easier to make breads and pastries now.  So many bread and baking recipes call for so many grams of flour/sugar/etc.  I was doing my best to guess, but now… the guessing is over!

He also brought me a new collapsible funnel.  Some bunny used my other one to change the oil in the car.  Who could that be??  ;)

Plus, toast tongs!  My toaster ALWAYS eats my toast, and I come away with burnt fingers and/or hands.  Bring it on toaster!

I think the bunnies did well this year.

Off to cuddle with my bunny on the couch and watch American Idol!

Does the Easter bunny still visit you?
