New Friends and (Almost) New Roof

Monday I left the boys hard at work, and travelled to Kensington.  Look what I found!!!!

It was pretty heavenly to see a Whole Foods here.  I am starting to feel at home here!  ;)

My beautiful new friend, Molly, had me meet her above the Whole Foods at a very cool restaurant called SAF.  It is all vegan, healthy, and extremely good!!

We had a great conversation and great salads.  I got the detox salad- still trying to fight this jet lag.

Molly got a caesar salad!  It is so exciting to see a vegan version of caesar salad.  She said it was great.

A salad was just what the doctor ordered!  It kept me full and made me feel so much better.  I have not been eating very “healthy” since I have been here.  My lack of greens was certainly filled for the day.

I had a great time with Molly!  I’m so excited to have a new friend, and I hope we can stay in touch!  She just finished her degree from Bauman College and is now a Nutrition Consultant!  Check out her site The Particular Kitchen.  She has great nutritional advice plus several yummy recipes!  I, personally, can’t wait to get home and try out some of her recipes.  Also, I hear she is going to make a wonderful raw dessert for the 4th of July that stars cherries!!  YUM!

After we ate, we browsed Whole Foods.  It was the largest Whole Foods I had ever been into.  I thought I had died and gone to Foodie Heaven!

Thanks again Molly for a great afternoon!!!

After a great lunch date, it was back to the grind at the church.  I found these guys up on the roof working hard.

The church roof has been leaking, so we are painting the roof with aluminum sealant type stuff…  I don’t know exactly, but it is supposed to fix the problem.

Luvy was the “gooper”.  He was sealing the roof with some sort of goop stuff.  He did a great job!

I was the roof sweeper.

At any minute I felt like Mary Poppins was going to come from the sky with her umbrella.

For dinner, we went to a lady’s house that has been attending Twynholm Baptist.  She did a huge spread of food!

Luvy and I were twinkies.  We wore our matching mission trip t-shirts!

Of course, Nathan had several empty bowls.  This guy is  a bottomless pit!  Love him!

Steve, a church member who drives a bus, took us on a bus tour of London after dinner.  It was nice seeing everything again since I hadn’t been here in 10 years!  We are going downtown walking so I’ll have pictures later this week!

Today, it is off to the races again!

Now you all are caught up for the most part!  See you all tonight with more fun adventures!

Wife of a Preacher Man?

Sorry for no post yesterday!  We were so busy.  Sundays are as busy in London as they are at home!!  :)

A girl who has become a quick friend here, Emma, and I FINALLY got a picture together after church!  Good thing we were all dressed up and lookin’ good!

She is such a doll!  I’m so excited that God brought her into our lives!

A couple from the church took us for a picnic in Richmond Park after church.

Luvy got a big spread!

We walked around the park for a while after we ate.  Look at the deer that were in the park!

There was a 12-pointer in the back!  Good thing these deer are protected…

It was the perfect day for a picnic!!  It finally warmed up over here.  It got into the 80′s!  :)  Just how I like it!!

Sunday night, I felt like I was back at FBC!  Luvy was up playing the piano for the music.

HOWEVER, Luvy also gave the message!!!  My Luvy, a PREACHER BOY???  I would have never imagined!!  He did fantastic!

I’m not just saying that.  He is a very good communicator.  He says he was nervous, but you couldn’t tell!!

Dean and his beautiful wife, Kris, went to dinner with us.  I wish an ocean didn’t separate us!!  Luvy and I are certainly going to miss these two when we have to leave.

We went to this very cool Thai restaurant here in Hammersmith called Thai Rice.  It has a GREAT atmosphere.

It was delish, but the company was even better!!

That, my friends, was our Sunday.  Today was just, if not more, exciting as yesterday, but you will have to wait on that until tomorrow morning.  It is 11:00pm our time in London, and I’m pooped!

Hope to have a post up tomorrow morning for you all PLUS another tomorrow night, if possible!

Love you all and thank you for your prayers and encouragement!!

Bone Lickin’ Good

I am dragging today.  Luvy and I didn’t get into bed until after midnight last night, so we had a very long 2 days.  I need some serious sleep!  Otherwise, I might embarrass myself by falling asleep in church!  Now that would be bad!!

I am in need of another one of those juices from Dolce and Banana!!  Maybe tomorrow…

Today, we did some maintenance work around the church, and went to the park to play some “football”.

Isn’t the church just beautiful?!?

Luvy offered to be the QB.  :)

That is the oddest shaped football I have ever seen…

Little Levi even plays.  Must be a British thing..  ;)

It is so much easier to eat healthy here than in the States!  I got to talk to several of the ladies about how there are so many additives to American foods that are outlawed in the UK, such as hydrogenated oils, trans fats, and high fructose corn syrup!  Wouldn’t that be nice?!?!

Tonight, Martin and Kayla hosted us at their house for dinner.  They had BBQ, potato salad, beans, and a nice regular salad.

We rode the bus to Roe Hampton.  It is across the Thames River from where we are staying.  I love this area!  It was beautiful, and much quieter than Fulham, where we are now.

I always feel so awkward that I can’t eat what everyone else is eating and that I have to take my own things, but everyone here has been extremely understanding and gracious!  :)

The food was delicious, as you can see.  I think Alex cleaned the bones on his chicken.

There weren’t many leftovers.  Even after dessert, Nathan went back for more sausages!  I have never seen a bottomless pit like him!!

Tomorrow we have church at 10:30, and then a picnic in a park!!

Luvy and I are tired today, so we are turning it.  It is only 5:45 EST, but it is 10:45 here!

Goodnight all!  See you tomorrow!
