WIAW #9

Happy What I Ate Wednesday!  Being off on Monday for my birthday is helping this week fly by!

This month, Jenn is wanting us to talk about food and fitness.  I love both, so let’s go!!   I’m going to detail some* of yesterday’s eats and fitness.

Breakfast was a usual.  Blueberry and strawberry buckwheat bake.

Hey… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it right??  ;)  I think I still owe you guys my recipe… don’t I??

My morning flew by, and 3 hours later it was time for lunch.  Leftovers are all the rage here for lunch.

I had leftover broccoli dal for lunch.  Hit the spot!

My snack was a couple of figs stuffed with almond butter.  I am addicted!

I didn’t have a bit snack, because we were eating dinner early.

For dinner, we had enchiladas.  This may be the BEST recipe I have ever created.

Don’t worry I will share it asap.  It was Luvy approved for sure.

After dinner, my friend Laura and I went to get froyo.  She is leaving for London this week, and I am going to miss her!!

Those bowls for froyo are HUUUUGE!  I’m so glad that we got to chat for a bit!

So, you might be wondering… when are we going to talk about fitness.  It doesn’t look like to did anything today, and you are right!

I want to talk to you about REST.  That is such an important part of fitness that seems to be overlooked.  I know when I was training for my half marathon or in the height of my fitness days, I hated rest days.  I would consider doing a 20 min video “rest”.

Our bodies need rest days to recharge and get stronger, especially after a hard workout.

How do you feel about rest days?  Do you take them?

What is your favorite way to eat a fig?

Would you like to hear more about my workouts?

Beach Life

Hey friends!

I can’t believe it is Tuesday.  Being on vacation has my days all mixed up.  :)

It rained here this morning, so Luvy and I hung around here and went out for breakfast at Simon’s Coffee House here in Sarasota.

We shared the Mediterranean Tofu scramble and it was wonderful!

Simon’s is such an incredible breakfast and lunch spot!  The even offer a raw dish at lunch.  Their food is incredible and the place is great.  The service wasn’t as good as the food, but the other stuff makes up for it.

We got to head out to the beach after lunch, but it was overcast all day.  I actually didn’t mind though because I’m a little burnt.

Since it was dreary today, I didn’t really feel like fixing my hair.  Plus, when it rains my hair grow… like a chia pet!

While it was still damp, I just pulled it to the side and braided it.  I think I’ll do this more often at home.

Tonight’s dinner was at a hole in the wall place called Monterey Grill.  We both got one of the rice bowls.

I got the Wild Salmon Bowl with the Hawaiian sauce on it to make it gluten-free.

Luvy got the Pacific Bowl.  He deemed this “Luvy approved”, and he said it was the best meal he has had while he has been here.

Our server Johnny was excellent as well.  We ate here two years ago, and it is a gem.  Certainly a hidden treasure here in Sarasota!

After dinner, we were on a mission.  Luvy had never been to get froyo before.  I’m allergic to dairy, and I’ve even been!  We had to rectify this IMMEDIATELY.  I called several places and only Yogurtology had a dairy-free option.

Luvy tried several flavors and ended up settling on the dairy free option with me!  It was pomegranate raspberry.

He figured out why I love froyo so much… the toppings!  They did have great toppings.

I wish beach life was REAL life!  I have been eating so much good food!

I’ll be sharing more of my good eats tomorrow on WIAW!

What is your favorite things about the beach or vacation in general?

Birthday Fro-Yo

Today is a very special person’s birthday….

He has always been there for me.

Gave me shoulder to lean on.

Encouraged me.

Loved me when I was unlovable (i.e. teenaged years).

Told me to pursue my dreams.

Wiped my tears.

Loved me unconditionally.

Today is my daddy’s birthday.

I wish I was there to celebrate with you!!  I love you, Daddy.

My sweet friend Laura and I went out to get fro-yo in honor of Daddy’s birthday (and because we were craving it!).

We went to Choices Yogurt Bar because they have 2 non-dairy options every day!  Score.

We were just a little excited about fro-yo!  :)

I got a mix of Mango Tango and Pomegranate Berry.  Sugar rush but oh so delicious.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

What do you like to do to celebrate birthdays?

Are birthdays a big deal to you?
